SWES provides food, personal care items, and financial assistance to keep families in their homes and with the lights on. No one asking for food is turned away.
What we do
Three kinds of help, all of it free, all of it from neighbors in the Arbutus area.
Food assistance
Perishable and non-perishable groceries for individuals and families. Open Mon, Wed and Fri mornings.
Financial assistance
Help preventing eviction and BGE or water shutoffs for eligible households in our service area.
Personal care items
Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine products and other essentials SNAP will not cover.
Who qualifies
Financial assistance
For residents of 21227, or of 21229 (Baltimore County) on the Arbutus side of Wilkens Ave. Members of one of our 19 sponsoring churches also qualify regardless of address.
Open to all
Food
Regardless of address, no one requesting food on a one-time basis will be turned away. Come to the entrance off Shelbourne Rd, adjacent to Maple Ave.

- Frozen chicken, ground beef, frozen fish
- Canned meat – tuna, chicken, salmon
- Peanut butter, jam and jelly
- Rice, pasta and shelf-stable milk
- Toilet paper and toiletries
Please no clothing, furniture, cribs, TVs, car seats, or large toys.
